IAMFE was founded by Egil Øyjord who was President of the organization from 1964 to 2000. The IAMFE Secretariat and Information Centre had its office at the Norwegian Institute of Agricultural Engineering from 1964 to 1989 and from 1990 to 1993 at the Department of Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural University of Norway, Ås.

From 1st January 1993 until 31 August 2004, the IAMFE Secretariat and Information Centre, renamed to The International IAMFE Centre, has been located at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, PO Box 7032, S-750 07 Uppsala, Sweden. Mr. Torbjörn Leuchovius was Executive Secretary of the Organization during this time.

At IAMFE/ AAB, UK 2000 Conference and Exhibition, Prof. Egil Oyjord, after 36 years, resigned as President of IAMFE. Mr. Bjorn Andersson, Sweden, was elected as acting President of IAMFE. ln 2001 Mr. Kolbjorn Moskvil, Norway was elected President of IAMFE.

Up to his resignation at IAMFE 2000, the Founder and President of IAMFE, Prof. Egil Øyjord, operated a Norwegian IAMFE Centre at the Department of Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural University of Norway, PO Box 5065, N-1432 Ås, Norway.

At IAMFE/Russia 2004 Conference and Exhibition arranged at St.Petersburg State Agrarian University (SPSAU), Mr. Torbjorn Leuchovius resigned from his positions in IAMFE. Dr. Vladislav Minin, Russia, was elected Executive Secretary and Director of the International IAMFE Centre which first was located at SPSAU and later moved to North-West Research Institute of Agricultural Engineering and Electrification, St. Petersburg, Pavlovsk. Mr. Kolbjorn Moskvil resigned as President of IAMFE and Dr. John Stevens, N.Z. became Acting Presidet of IAMFE and Prof. Shang Shuqi,China, Vice President of IAMFE.

At IAMFE/Denmark 2008 Conference and Exhibition, Prof. Shang Shuqi was elected President of IAMFE and Dr. Vadislav Minin was re-elected Executive Secretary up to 2012.

At IAMFE/China 2012 Conference and Exhibition arranged at Qingdao Agricultural University in the Shandong Province, Prof. Shang Shuqi was re-elected President and Dr. Wang Jiasheng was elected Executive Secretary. The International IAMFE Centre was moved from St. Petersburg to Qingdao Agricultural University.

At IAMFE/Rusia 2016 Conference and Exhibition arranged at Moscow, Russia during June 27-28, 2017 , As Honor President of IAMFE was elected Prof. Egil Oyjord, Norway. Prof. Shang Shuqi was re-elected President, As Vice President of IAMFE, Dr.Vladislav Minin from Russia was re-elected, Dr. Wang Jiasheng was re-elected Executive Secretary. The International IAMFE Centre will still continue to be set in Qingdao Agricultural University, China.

At IAMFE/China 2022 Conference and Exhibition arranged at Qingdao Agricultural University in the Shandong Province, Prof. Shang Shuqi was re-elected President, As Vice President of IAMFE, Dr.Vladislav Minin from Russia was re-elected, Prof. Wang Dongwei from Qingdao Agricultural University was elected as Vice President, Prof. Alexander Briukhanov from Russian Academy of Sciences was elected as Vice President, Dr. Wang Jiasheng was re-elected Executive Secretary. The International IAMFE Centre will still continue to be set in Qingdao Agricultural University, China.
